Oil Spill Clean up- ECO AC 2000 & OOPS

Oil Spill Clean up- ECO AC 2000 & OOPS Video Clips. Duration : 5.58 Mins.

Oil spills can be cleaned up effectively with Microbond's Optimum Oil Petrol Sorbent (OOPS), a white foam type polyester sorbent material that instantly reacts to the ion bond of hydrogen in hydrocarbons. OOPS is a safe, highly absorbent material that is an effective, 'low tech" solution to oil spills. Unlike carbon nanotubes, OOPS does not have any associated health risks. Nanotubes can be potientially risky if inhaled, despite being an exceptional sorbent of crude oil and dispersants. OOPS is highly absorbent when compared to Granular Activated Carbon (GAC), a commonly used sorbent for cleaning up oil spills. However, GAC has a poor absorbency rate (pick up rate) at 5:1, which means 5 pounds of GAC are required for every pound of crude oil absorbed. By comparision, OOPS has a pick up rate of 1:20. This means that only one pound of OOPS is required to absorb up to 20 pounds of crude oil, which is approximately 2.6 gallons of more, of oil. Value: 1 million pounds of OOPS can absorb approximately 2.6 million gallons of crude oil. 1000000 lbs of OOPS absorbs 20 times its weight so, 1000000 x 20 lb = 20000000 lb 20000000 divided by 7.63 (lbs per gallon of oil) = 2621231 gallons of oil that can be absorbed bt OOPS 2621231 gal divided by 42 (gal in a barrel) = 62410 barrels of oil that can be absorbed immediately and reclaimed. 5200 gallons of oil that can be absorbed per ton of OOPS Cool thing about this is that we can squeeze the oil out and possibly reuse the material. Once ...
