My DIY Water Change Filter System. More or less 3 five gallon buckets with holes drilled in them, placed into a tub with a pump at the bottom. The top bucket has about 6-8 inches of filter material, the middle bucket has about 4-5 inches of activated carbon and other packs of chemical filters. The bottom bucket has only about 8 holes drilled about an inch up from the bottom, so the water squirts out the sides. Run your water through this and pump it back into the tank. OF COURSE you still need to do water changes, but this helps cut down the number you have to do. Typically I still add 2 - 4 gallons when I use this simple because you can not get all of the water out of the tub.
