Candycane coral (Caulastrea furcata) with planaria on it

Candycane coral (Caulastrea furcata) with planaria on it Tube. Duration : 0.35 Mins.

Candycane coral in a client's 470 gallon reef aquarium. Unfortunately it is covered in flatworms. Flatworms don't hurt the aquarium but they are annoying when they reproduce in huge numbers. They can be eradicated using a product from Salifert called "Flatworm Exit". I would do that to this client's aquarium however it can be dangerous to the corals and fish if you do not: Remove as many of the flatworms as possible prior to adding "Flatworm Exit" Do multiple large water changes afterward Add a large amount of activated carbon after the water change You then have to babysit the aquarium all day in order to make sure that the juices from the dieing planaria (flatworms) to not poison the fish.
