A Coconut tree is one of the most valuable trees know to mankind. Coconut trees are primarily grown for its Coconut fruits; a very nutritious fruit used in the Asian region very extensively in food and as a food item itself. Coconut trees grow quite fast and start bearing very early. On average, Coconut trees grow to about 30 meteres in height. A Coconut tree would produce anything from 100 to 150 nuts a year depending on how fertile the soil is. Commercially cultivated Coconut trees produce much higher yields in the region of about 300 nuts per year. The Coconut tree in my back yard is about 35 years old and is able to produce about 120 -- 150 nuts per year without any fertilizer, maintenance or care. Cutting or pulling down one of these trees is like taking a life as it serves so many purposes while it stands tall and continues to do so even after it's brought down.
