The Fluval G3 and G6 are the newest entries in the Fluval line of external canister filters. They are some of the most advanced filters on the planet, with a computer controlled screen that provides an abundance of information to the advanced aquarist. The system is modular, with a very fine mechanical cartridge screen and then a chemical filter cartridge. There are separate screens for freshwater and saltwater available. Both the mechanical cartridge and chemical system are easily removed for maintenance without having to disassemble or remove the filter frm its location. They are top loaded and removable using an effective Aqua-Stop to control water flow into and back out of the filter. A couple of large biological media baskets finish the filtration capacity of the units. The G3 or G6 canister filters are not as flexible as the original Fluval canisters as far as media selection or placement. However, the second stage chemical cartridge can be filled with almost any filter material that is available. In most cases it is filled with high grade Fluval Activated Carbon. The system monitors a large number of parameters. It tracks the time the various media stages have been working since replacement. It also graphically displays the temperature fluctuations and electro-conductivity in the aquarium.
