A cigar-sized battery was made from granular activated charcoal wrapped in a salt water soaked paper towel, then aluminum foil. The charcoal was obtained from a pet store. It is sold for filtering fish tanks. One fan lead was embedded in the moist charcoal, and the other pressed between the layers of wrapped aluminum. The device measured 1 volt and 100 mA when squeezed firmly. It ran the fan for 2 hours. This video was uploaded from an Android phone.
