The Fluval G3 and G6 are the newest entries in the Fluval line of external canister filters. They are some of the most advanced filters on the planet, with a computer controlled screen that provides an abundance of information to the advanced aquarist. The system is modular, with a very fine mechanical cartridge screen and then a chemical filter cartridge. There are separate screens for freshwater and saltwater available. Both the mechanical cartridge and chemical system are easily removed for maintenance without having to disassemble or remove the filter frm its location. They are top loaded and removable using an effective Aqua-Stop to control water flow into and back out of the filter. A couple of large biological media baskets finish the filtration capacity of the units. The G3 or G6 canister filters are not as flexible as the original Fluval canisters as far as media selction or placement. However, the second stage chemical cartridge can be filled with almost any filter material that is available. In most cases it is filled with high grade Fluval Activated Carbon. The system monitors a large number of parameters. It tracks the time the various media stages have been working since replacement. It also graphically displays the temperature fluctuations and electro-conductivity in the aquarium. its here, hey youtube its took me time to find time to do this, and its not the proper filter review that i wanted to do, but ive been prommisng it and prommising it, and here it is :). i personaly dont like how the video turned out, and i am going to be doing another filter review when ive had the filter a little while longer too, i figured ill do a few reviews on it and ya'll can see how or if my veiw on the filter changes. okay so for now here are the pros and cons of the filter: pro's 1) it keeps the water very clean and clear, 2) it can be placed horizotaly or verticly for maximum space saving, which leads into # 3) its very slim, so it doesnt take up much space, 4) the filter media can be changed to suit your needs, the inside is very spacous, and has the ablity to act as the mini verson of a mini canster, so you can really play around with diffrent types of sandwhiches of filter media, or keep it simple ( like i do.) 6) its easy to take apart/put back together 7) its easy to clean now here are some cons to it 1) the filter is a bit pricy, 2) if on the lowest setting it can be a bit loud, this will go away but it will sometimes pick back up every now and then, 3) the activated carbon is sold sepratly ( no too big a deal becuase its not too expeinsive but still) 4) the spraybar can get buildup in it fairly quickly ( needs to be cleaned every month). the spraybar doesnt stop working becuase the buildup is at the bottom of it, and its not hard to take off and clean at ...

Fluval G series canister filter, G3 Un-boxing.

Just did a short little video since I had the opportunity to do an un-boxing video to show what comes with this filter, and actually do it while I still have everything together. Also because it is a new filter that incorporates some new ideas, Ive noticed there is a lot of speculation and myths about this filter. So was just going to do this for full coverage on this filter since I had the opportunity. I will be doing more coverage and videos on this filter, Ill probably just do "The G Series Show of Death" and just kill every piece of information in the video I can possibly think of. Now I will admit, theres no speculation or myths on the price, but, at the moment, Fluval is offering (in most states) an extra 50 dollar rebate on the G3 and G6. Now if any of you want me to I can do an un-boxing of the G6 as well but I will tell you its going to look pretty much the same. Actually this is my first G3 I really have only used G6s, but same thing for the most part, I will cover this in the my planned show of death.
